The Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced the launch of their Sustainability Initiatives Resource Hub. The sustainability-centred hub which will be housed on the website, is designed to provide open access resources and information specific to fashion design and business sustainable strategies.

In an opening letter in their sustainability guide:

“At a time when numbers and reports are so daunting, the CFDA is more optimistic than ever and sees 2019 as a year of progress – with every step counting towards substantial change. We are closer than ever to opportunities and solutions to create and consume with less impact, to employ circularity, and to ultimately end production of single use plastics.

It hails as an important move in the right direction, in an industry that has no sustainability standards that enforces designers to adhere to anywhere in the world.

The sustainability hub has four core components; a guide to sustainable strategies, a toolkit for creating sustainability blueprints, a materials index and a sustainable resource directory. In the coming weeks, case study spotlights and engagements will also be profiled and added.
